Essex in Vision television crew set off to Maldon on the last day of 2006. On a cold New Year’s Eve our crew, made up of, Dennis, Val, Fred, Diane and myself, Ian. All wrapped up warm, as we talked to many competitors of the Maldon Mud race.

It seems interesting that for the majority it was their first time and you can soon see why. It is great fun to watch these hardy fools take part, but to take part in the race is another thing. This leaves you with great admiration for them.
Most are doing the race with sponsorship money riding on them for various charities.

With Radio microphone in hand Val and Dennis, two of “Essex in Vision” presenters chatted to the entrants of this year contest of endurance.
We soon found out that for most of the runners, it was their first time in the race.
These first timers are given the group name of “Mud Virgins.”
